Communications Director's Message

Message from the Communication Director

It's that beautiful time of year again. The leaves on the trees are transforming to reds and yellows, and the chill in the air tells us it is fall. Everyone is back into the school routine and it is clear that summer vacation is over. What does that mean? Time to start putting together those abstracts for the Pediatric Academic Societies meeting in the spring. Scientific abstracts are due November 10, 2015.

Time to call the biostatistician and crunch those numbers!

In other news, the APA Communications Committee had its first meeting in September and we are moving forward with laying the groundwork to develop our organization's communication strategic plan. If you want to join this gnarly crew, let us know. We have a conference call on the third Tuesday of the month at 9am EST. If you need the password to join us, contact Connie Mackay (connie@academicpeds.org). You don't want to miss this opportunity to leave your mark.

Finally, I want to share a little secret with the medical educators in the group (so I guess that's everyone). Check out this link on the Academic Pediatrics Journal website to learn more about The Pediatric Milestone Project. The Project provides an important resource for information on the assessment of competencies for pediatric training. Best of all, with your membership in the APA, access is free.

Don't take my word for it. Click on the link!

Until next time, my quote for the month - "Fitting in is boring for anyone who wants to be extraordinary." - Adam Levine, The Voice
