Region IV had our annual meeting in Charlottesville, VA on February 20-21, 2010. Kantahyanee Murray (Johns Hopkins University), Rachel St. John (Gallaudet University) and John Olsson (East Carolina University) put together an excellent conference. The conference started with a Keynote Speech about Health Care Reform and the Medical Home from the Immediate Past President of the AAP, Dr. David Tayloe. We had a Meet the Professors Breakfast (see picture) which allowed attendees to talk personally with leaders who have experience in the areas of Advocacy, Behavior and Development, Education, Hospitalist Medicine, Primary Care, Mentorship, and Research.
We were also lucky to have Bob Hall from the AAP Federal Affairs Office give us a legislative update on health care reform. The meeting was very well attended and as always was full of lots of great research presentations and workshops. In addition, we had 3 residents present their QI/QA projects during the poster session. We hope the meeting continues to be a welcoming forum for resident projects.
We are excited for the national meeting this year as our own Janet Serwint (Johns Hopkins) starts her term as APA President. Please be sure to join us for our Regional Breakfast on Monday, May 3rd at 7:00am.
We hope to see many of you in Vancouver!
