Region VII and VIII held their annual regional meeting in New Orleans, February 21-23 during the Southern Regional Meetings.
Our APA workshop featured Stephen E. Whitney, MD, MBA, FAAP, Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine, and Professor of Practice of Healthcare Management at Rice University. He led a lively workshop entitled "Putting the 'B' in Systems-Based Practice: Teaching the Business Side of Medicine."
This meeting also featured outstanding original science and clinical case presentations.
The highlight of our APA Region VII and VIII business meeting was a presentation given by Dr. David Jaffe, APA President. Dr. Jaffe provided attendees with an APA update, including new APA programs and awards, and future directions for the APA. Click on this link to view Dr. Jaffe's slides.

We are very pleased to welcome our newest region VII co-chair, Dr. Jennifer Andrews. Jennifer is Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Section of Neonatology at UAMS & Arkansas Children's Hospital. She was born and raised in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. After graduating from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics, she completed clinical training to become a Registered Dietitian. She graduated medical school from UAMS in 2008, and then completed a pediatric residency at UAMS/ACH in 2013. Her career interests are practicing clinical medicine and supporting medical student and resident clinical training. Outside of work, she enjoys running, cooking, and traveling. We're so happy to have Jennifer as our new co-chair.
