| Print Document REGION IV We enjoyed reconnecting with so many Region IV members at the regional breakfast at the PAS meeting in May in San Francisco. Although it was a (very) early meeting, it was well attended by 36 members from 10 institutions across the region. A highlight of the meeting was a presentation, given by Dr. Rachel Tuuri, the recipient of the 2006 Regional Research Award. Rachel is currently a fellow in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at CNMC. She received the $500 grant for her proposal, “Gastrointestinal Decontamination in the Emergency Department after Pediatric Ingestion: Does Pre-notification by a Poison Control Center Decrease Time to Administration of Activated Charcoal?” We look forward to hearing about her work-in-progress at our next regional meeting. The Region IV annual meeting will be held in Charlottesville, VA again next year. We had such a fantastic meeting there this past year, so we’re going back for more! Mark your calendars for January 13-14, 2007. Karin Hillenbrand (East Carolina University), John Olsson (East Carolina University), and Martha Hellems (University of Virginia) are the organizing committee for the meeting. Similar to last year, we are planning on offering CME for participants! Look for more information in your in-boxes very soon. Membership in the region continues to grow. To encourage increased participation and membership, please invite colleagues, faculty members, fellows, and residents to consider applying for membership. If you are interested in serving as a recruiter for Region IV at your home institution, let us know. Please keep Barry Solomon informed of any changes in your contact information atbsolomon@jhmi.edu or if you’d like him to send a message out to Region IV members. If you do not have e-mail, please call Barry at (410) 614-8438. Finally, we’d like to thank the outgoing Region IV co-chair Larry Pasquinelli for his outstanding leadership, and welcome Gail Cohen as the new Region IV co-chair! She was initiated at the regional breakfast at the PAS meeting, and is very excited to work with the region to increase participation and strengthen ties between institutions. Please contact her at gcohen@wfubmc.edu, or Barry Solomon at bsolomon@jhmi.edu with any and all ideas. Hope to see you in Charlottesville! . |
