The APA Faculty Development Special Interest Group (FacDevSIG) exists to provide

Our focus is on the members’ roles as faculty developers, not merely
the members’ own personal faculty development.

The APA Faculty development SIG will meet on SUNDAY MAY 4, 2008 in the Hawaii Convention Center, Room 302B from 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
This meeting will have 2 parts:
Part 1: A breakout session for novices and experienced faculty developers. The novice group will tackle the difficult problems of getting a program started and addressing the needs of your faculty. The experienced group will discuss what’s new in faculty development and the latest trends in the field.
Part 2: A seminar on mentoring by Mary Ellen Gusic and Mimi Bar-on. They will focus on the questions of what is mentoring, what are the logistics of mentoring and what are the goals of mentoring? The seminar will be interactive and your questions and comments are welcome.

PAS Educational Scholars Program
The mission of the PAS
Educational Scholars Program is
to assist the membership in developing themselves as productive, advancing
and fulfilled faculty members and to increase the quality, status and visibility
of pediatric educators in academia. The program operates the Educational
Scholars Program and E-Connections.
Networking at your fingertips.
E-connections is now live. This electronic networking resource allows
APA members to seek project-specific assistance from other members.
Consultants listed in E-Connections have self-identified expertise in
Education, Research, Career Development, Advocacy/Health Policy,
Administration/Leadership and Communication/Technology. They are willing
to consult by e-mail or phone to assist other members with project
development or project dilemmas. To access: Go to the members-only home
page and click on the E-Connections tab.
Six-Domains of Faculty Development.
The career development needs of most academic pediatric faculty members fall into six domains. For each domain, we have provided a set of common faculty development goals. We recommend that APA members review and adapt the goal sets to create their own plans for personal career development.
