Mind-Body Approaches in Pediatrics: Practical Applications Using mind-body approaches to improve procedures for everyone. Painful and distressing events are often part of providing care to children in the outpatient or clinic setting. We will discuss general holistic strategies and procedure-specific techniques to help minimize pain and distress, with the goal of optimizing the experience for families, children and health care providers alike. There will be a focus on non-pharmacologic, integrative strategies and an opportunity for hands-on practice of select techniques.

Leveraging the Power of the Brain to Change Itself to Improve Pediatrics. This session will bring mind-body experts together to review evidence on the use of mind-body approaches in pediatrics, share experiences of bringing mindfulness into clinical care and research, and generate new ideas for translating findings into practices for the benefits of patients and pediatricians alike.
